Born and raised in Vihiga County, I witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of limited access to clean water, as my community often faced
outbreaks of waterborne diseases such as cholera and typhoid. These challenges ignited my passion for public health and infection prevention, shaping my career focus on mitigating water-related health risks and other infections.
With a Master of Public Health (MPH) and 25 years experience in healthcare and infection prevention and control both abroad and in the United States of America, I have dedicated my career to developing
evidence-based strategies to combat infectious diseases.
My work spans healthcare-associated infection prevention, epidemiology, and
environmental health, driven by a personal commitment to improving
water safety and health outcomes.
Through the Rose K. Mutongi Foundation, I integrate my lived experiences and professional expertise to deliver sustainable, global solutions for waterborne disease prevention. My mission is to empower communities worldwide with effective infection prevention strategies, ensuring a healthier, safer future for all.
